my autumn fashion favourites

With the Autumn weather creeping in and transitional clothing pieces making appearances in stores everywhere, I find myself addicted to finding new styles to wear in the cooler weather. Whilst I completely adore the warm, summer weather (and what a summer we had here in the UK!) and the ability to wear sundresses and lighter clothes, the thought of bundling up scarves and jumpers to keep warm secretly excites me too.

And with the cosier evenings comes all things Autumn in the shops- burnt oranges, navy, thick jeans, woolly jumpers, check trousers- and I am here for it all! I've picked up a few pieces recently which have revived my love for fashion and putting together an outfit that makes you feel great, so I thought I would share them with my blog.

I bought these check trousers around a month ago now, and whilst I have been wearing them during the warmer weather with t-shirts, they will be perfect for Autumn paired with a chunky knit jumper. New Look has remained a high street favourite of mine since I was probably about age 11- so for a whole decade!- and they didn't disappoint with these trousers. A major plus for me is that they have an elasticated waist at the back and are suuuper comfy pull on trousers- so easy. I love the red that runs through the check which is perfect as not only does it go great with this staple red t-shirt from Zara, but I also have a red knit jumper that it will go great with too when the Autumn/Winter chill fully hits.

Another transitional piece that I have been loving is this khaki culotte jumpsuit- again from New Look and currently in the sale for only £11!! This piece was actually donated to me by my Nan- what a trendy nan, huh?!- and has been great in this hit or miss weather we've recently been having. I wore this on its own with sandals towards the start of September when we experienced a short, and perhaps the last, burst of summer sun and honestly felt great in it. I'm quite insecure about the tops of my arms so haven't really got them out all summer- until now! I think it's the wider straps that are very flattering on bulkier arms, however, I fully intend on wearing this jumpsuit into Autumn/Winter with a thin, black turtleneck jumper underneath for those office pinafore vibes, and to also cover up a bit more so that I can comfortably fatten up for Winter hibernation (lol).

Running with the theme of jumpsuits... and specifically culotte jumpsuits- who doesn't love cullottes?!- allllllll summer, literally day in day out, I have been wearing this black ribbed culotte jumpsuit. Super comfy, super easy to wear (you only have to choose which shoes you want to wear with it- sounds perfect, right?). Although this is mostly a summer item, on those chillier days I have been wearing it with converse and a denim jacket or with a jumper over the top. I'm going to see how many more weeks use I can get out of this item until it officially hits "definitely-too-cold-to-continue-wearing-this" territory. It's currently on sale at the moment for £14.99- what a steal! And I also noticed they now do a long sleeve version which is incredibly tempting.

Another favourite purchase of mine looking towards the Autumnal weather has been a pair of classic denim jeans. I have been looking everywhere... and I mean EVERYWHERE for a pair of mom style blue denim jeans. My criteria was: thick material, high waist, single button and zip (not those weird triple button fastenings), flattering dye patterning on the thigh and booty area and, most importantly, affordable. And I managed to find just that in no other than... Primark! Usually I steer clear from Primark jeans just because they're often made of a thinner material that doesn't flatter my shape, and the jeans are way too long for my short five foot body. They just fit great, super flattering on my waist and thighs, and although they are the "straight leg jeans", they're the perfect style to pull off the mom jeans look I was going for- with a little roll up of the length. An absolute steal for only £13, and I have been wearing them everyday since I bought them.

I've been pairing my new favourite jeans with an array of sweatshirts and t-shirts, however my favourite look has got to be a classic navy stripe t-shirt. This classic stripe tee was also an absolute steal at £4.99 from Zara, and from Zara you can guarantee you're not surrendering high quality for the lower prices. Perfect for the cooler weather paired with a cardigan or coat and some converse- you can't go wrong.

And finally, I couldn't resist buying myself a new scarf for when Winter gets into full swing in a few weeks time. A lovely brown and cream tartan-ish pattern with hints of yellow and orange creeping in. This blanket scarf is super cosey and looks great paired with my new jeans, and will look great with my much desired petite black longline duster coat. And also an absolute steal at £4 from Primark (I really need to stop saying 'steal'- haha).

I'm SO excited for the full autumn/winter ranges to come out in high street shops so I can delve further into darker colours and chunkier knits to feel cosier at this time of year. Autumn/Winter fashion gives me that tiny bit of solace despite my sadness that I don't actually want to be consistently cold for the next six months until Spring comes around. But for now the Autumn hues and the thought of lighting a million candles in these darker evenings will keep my spirits high for Winter.
