update & bank holiday weekend

I thought I would post a quick little update of what I have been up to recently as I haven't made a blog post since January (shock horror!). I've been completely snowed under (quite literally- back in March) with uni work, but my dissertation has now been completed and handed in, and I only have a few assessments left until I am DONE!! with my three years at university. I will hopefully be graduating with my degree in English Literature in July and will continue my journey in the big wide world of graduate job hunting until I hopefully land myself my dream job in copywriting.

Anyway... England is finally starting to feel like summer now, and for once we have had glorious, sunny weather for the May Bank Holiday weekend. It is my 21st birthday on Wednesday (9th May), and my dad has recently celebrated his 60th, so my family came to visit myself and Tom in Bath to celebrate those milestone birthdays.

Whilst town was absolutely heaving (as expected- it wouldn't be a bank holiday in Bath if it wasn't!) we managed to visit all the lovely tourist-y destinations besides the Royal Crescent- it was too hot to walk all the way up that hill! Bath is such a beautiful city, and it was even lovelier to see it in the sunshine for once.

It was certainly an eventful day as we watched a lady named Bridget trip over the cobbled pavement and fall onto the floor, whilst her husband, who finally noticed his wife was no longer by his side, exclaimed rather unsympathetically, "Oh, Bridget", as well as seeing people sunbathing on the roundabout next to the Abbey!! There were also many sore, achey feet which lead to a trip to Primark to buy new shoes.

We finished off the day with a tradition I have done each year for my birthday since being at uni, by celebrating with a meal at Ask Italian. The service there is consistently friendly, and it's just really relaxing, not to mention it's beautiful and modern decor.

I will leave some photos of our day and meal below- note mine and my mum's Peach V&T cocktail with a real flower in it (amazing, right?!)

It was so nice to celebrate mine and my dad's birthdays together with my parents, my brother and his girlfriend, and Tom, as for the past three years I have been unable to go home for these celebrations due to it being exam and essay season. So I really appreciate them making the treacherous journey to Bath, even if it did take them an hour and a half longer than expected!

I am sure I will continue my 21st celebrations into this week, and enjoy many a cocktail and devour the pink gin I treated myself to in this week's food shop- ha!
