my everyday autumn makeup

I fancied writing something a little different on this blog, arguably a little more mainstream and less personal (emotionally, at least). I am a huge watcher of YouTube, and love a good makeup or haul video, so I thought why not create my own 'everyday makeup look' through the form of a blog post.

My everyday makeup is rather simplistic yet it helps me physically and emotionally get ready for the day, as well as boost my confidence. I am always on the hunt for new methods and new products to help create a flawless face so please advise me!

Application of makeup products is something I have struggled with since I have relatively dry skin, however recently my routine has been proven successful- although it is more catered for the winter months which is when my skin suffers the most. To begin with I want a fresh, clean base so I wash my face with a gel cleanser by Neutrogena and go in afterwards with a moisturising serum followed by my Simple moisturiser.

Before applying my foundation for dry and sensitive skin, I apply Benefit's Porefessional Primer in my t-zone. I apply my foundation with a damp beauty blender by Real Techniques as I believe this is the best method for dryer skin, since it adds moisture and doesn't move everything around on your face, so dry areas are less noticeable.

Also to combat my dry skin I use two concealers under my eyes, around my nose, and on my chin- where my blemishes mostly are. Firstly I use a dewy, moisturising concealer which isn't as light in colour as the other concealer as this conceals and moisturises. I then go over the same areas with a heavier concealer which is arguably more drying, however it combats my redness better.

Only in the areas in which I have concealed, I go over with a mattifying powder, using a Real Techniques contour brush as it is smaller and works better in the minimal areas I apply powder to. I finish off my base by using Benefit's Hoola Bronzer under my cheekbones to attempt to add definition to my round face. If I'm feeling particularly dull on the skin front I will apply my sleek highlighter onto the tops of my cheekbones.

Eyebrows are something that I struggle with as my eyebrows are horrendously sparse and a very light blonde. I really want to get them tinted but I am terrified to be honest! So I simply comb through them and use a Seventeen brow pencil that I found in Boots for a whopping 25p! I make a rough and pretty crappy brow outline and fill in the sparser areas to give my almost albino eyebrows some colour. I also fill in the entire brow with NYX's eyebrow cake powder with a Real Techniques eyebrow brush.

If I'm feeling lazy regarding eyeshadow, I will use a champagne coloured Ted Baker Eyeshadow pencil that I got for Christmas when I was probably around fifteen. However, if I have time I will go in with my NYX Neutrals Pallet and use the purpley, reddy, orange, browny Autumnal colours in my crease and under my eye (depending on how out-there I am feeling on the day) and use a lighter shimmer shade on my lid to brighten things up. I then curl my lashes and coat them in my Maxfactor 2000 Calorie curved brush volume and curl mascara which I have been using for over 4 years now.

Essential to an Autumnal makeup look is an Autumnal colour lip. Whilst I am on the hunt for a classic berry shade as we move into winter, for now I am using the NYX Liquid Suede cream lipstick in the shade 'Sandstorm', which is a pinky brown.

And fini! I also tried out a dab-hand of filming myself applying this makeup look using the professionalism of my iPhone camera's time lapse- so I hope you don't find it too cringey! I'll leave a link of all the products and brushes I have used under the video with the links also in case anyone fancied the sound of any of them!

Products I have used:

Skin prep

Applicators

Makeup

SEVENTEEN Brow Sculpting Pencil- no idea why mine only came up as 25p at the till!
