blog neglect

I really want to give this blogging thing another go.
I started this blog as I had always wanted to start a blog, however I never really knew where to start. I'd spent the majority of my teens and early adult years reading blogs such as Zoella's and Poppy Deyes' which largely cover the topics of lifestyle and beauty in their posts. This is the type of content I enjoy reading and this is the direction I want my blog to follow.
When beginning my blog, the university year had just begun and so I was very much in an educational and formal mind frame, hence why my very first blog post was very much just like an essay, even covering the topic of university applications. I mostly created this as I already had the resource of my personal statement, and I guess it was just a way of whacking out a post when I just so desperately wanted to start a blog. I was also being very heavily influenced by my university course to create experience for yourself as well as sculpting some sort of portfolio that you could show to potential future employers.
But, coming back to the route I now want to go down with my blog, I want it to be less academic, and more about, me. I want to create content that I myself would enjoy reading, as I feel if posts are created that want to be written, the content will be better. I no longer want to be influenced by the idea that employers will see this, I don't want my blog to be sculpted around my future career (you will discover I have ever-changing career prospects).
I want to fully embrace my creative urges with my blog, gathering inspiration from other bloggers, social media, television, and the world around me. With me creating enjoyable content for myself, I should be able to maintain a better turnover of blog posts than I currently have- that being a whopping great two blog posts! It's also summer very soon (not that I'm procrastinating revision for my exam that is tomorrow or anything...) so I will have a lot more free time to work on my blog.
Content that I myself enjoy reading from other bloggers and therefore wish to follow in their footsteps are beauty and fashion posts, lifestyle posts (touched on such a post in my a reflection post before Christmas- I know, AGES ago). Travel is another topic I want to create posts on, as I really have got the travel bug at the moment and have done for a while. Television is an area I am passionate about (if watching TV counts as a passion), and when I find a series I absolutely love I am always tweeting about it and discussing it in depth with my boyfriend and family- I am an English Lit student after all. I also want to completely revamp the style of my blog to reflect a more modern, clean vibe, and I'm sure my boyfriend will help me with all those technicalities- this will also include photographing my own images instead of using stocksnap photos (whoops) as I've always loved taking a picture or two.
Hopefully in writing this post, I have helped set out to myself as well as anybody out there who could possibly be reading my blog, the intentions for alittlespotofwriting. I am actually genuinely excited to get my creative spirits whizzing.
